BuildPre-seed to Series A, solo founders welcome

From idea to a product with paying customers

You have the business idea and the industry knowledge behind it. Now you need software. How should it work and what goes into the first version? Do you build it with AI tools or hire developers?

Without a technical background, it’s hard to know which approach is right and when it’s time to change it. A prototype that looks great in a demo but breaks once real users rely on it. A busy team where each step forward brings a step back. Vendors who propose different tech at different prices.

I help founders at this stage make these calls with confidence: what to build first, how to build it, and whether it’s ready for real users. Pick a fixed-price package or get ongoing support from me as your fractional CTO.

What you get

  • Conversations with you and your users or stakeholders
  • A requirements document (PRD) agreed before anyone builds
  • A roadmap to the first release, in an order that makes sense
  • A handover call with your developers once they’re on board

Launch Readiness Review

“Is my product ready for customers or does it need rework?”

Your product was built with AI tools or by developers, and you want to be sure it won’t fall over or leak data when real users show up.

What you get

  • A hands-on check: I run your system and review how it’s built, tested, and secured
  • A written report with findings ranked by severity: what’s ready, what needs work, and the risks
  • A plan to launch with best-case and realistic timelines
  • Running costs checked against what you expect customers to pay
  • A walkthrough call and answers to follow-up questions for two weeks

What you get

  • One-to-one conversations with you and everyone on the team
  • A look at the code, the task tracker, and how work gets planned and shipped
  • A candid written report on the process and on each person’s work

Hiring Your First Developers

“Who should build my product and how do I find them?”

You need your first developers but can’t judge technical skill yourself. A wrong hire costs you months.

What you get

  • A job description posted on the platforms of your choice
  • Screening and interviews that test how candidates think and decide
  • Reference checks with past clients or employers
  • A clear recommendation and advice on terms such as hourly or monthly

Other ways I help

Building with AI tools

You use AI every day and have perhaps even built a prototype with a coding tool. Now you’re wondering whether you can take it all the way to real customers with AI as your developer. Often you can with the right setup. The AI writes the code, but building a product takes more: deciding what to build, testing that it works the way you expect, and keeping it running securely.

I build with AI agents myself and help you set up a way of working that covers it end to end. We decide what the AI does on its own, what it does under your supervision, and what stays with a human. Each handover, such as your acceptance test of every feature, is built into the process so it can’t be skipped.

We agree on the format in a free call: a few sessions to set things up, or as part of ongoing support.

From industry know-how to a product plan

Recruiting marketplace, Spain, 2026

A founder with a background in recruiting was building a marketplace where companies post hard-to-fill roles and specialist recruiters propose candidates. He wanted to start with clear requirements, to avoid the problems that so often derail a first product. He knew his users and what they wanted. Over three weeks of calls we worked out what that meant in software: each journey through the system for companies, recruiters, and candidates, what goes on each screen, and what data the system needs at each step. He wrote out the details, with AI assistance, and I reviewed them for gaps: a page missing information its users would want, a next step with no direct way to get there. I explained what each technical choice would cost in effort and complexity, so he could weigh the trade-offs and narrow the first release, and showed him how to write user stories that developers can build from.

With the finished requirements, the founder built the platform with AI coding agents and launched it.

A development team that delivers every week

Monetization platform for content creators, Spain, 2026

Two first-time founders were building a platform for creators to sell their content. They had worked with a developer for two months and wanted the product to take shape faster, with progress they could follow. I looked at what had been built and how the work was planned. The founders had asked from the start for everything to be built right, so it wouldn’t need changing later. The developer took that literally: he spent the two months on foundations a large platform would need one day, while the first goal was a preview and waitlist page. The founders also kept refining the designs, and as a back-end specialist he found the visual details hard to match. I worked with the founders on the requirements, and together we brought in a front-end specialist and a back-end developer. Each week the developers committed to goals they agreed were realistic, and delivered them.

A few weeks later the preview and waitlist page went live, and from then on the founders saw finished work every week instead of just status updates.

An AI-built platform, reviewed before launch

Survey platform for a safety consultancy, UK, 2026

The founder was a business owner without a technical background. Using a sophisticated multi-agent AI coding process, he had spent several months building a survey platform for large organizations. Tens of thousands of employees would answer its surveys. Before launch, he wanted to be sure it would hold up: under load, against security and GDPR requirements, and in real-world use. In two weeks I set up and ran the whole system, went through the code, the tests, and the planned infrastructure, and checked what the documentation claimed against what the system actually did.

The platform was in good shape overall. The report listed about 130 findings, a handful critical or high and the majority medium or low, ranked into a plan for what to fix before launch. Typical patterns of AI-built software emerged: components built in isolation that didn’t connect to each other, safeguards that were built but never switched on, and tests that existed but never ran. The founder handed the findings to his AI coding agents to fix straight away.

“Very helpful to small startups who do not have [their] own CTO but need help translating business requirements into tech speak.”

Ongoing support

You’re building your product and the technical decisions keep coming: what to build next, which quote to trust, whether the work is ready to ship. As your fractional CTO, I keep your tech on track while you grow the business: as a sounding board, hands-on in agreed areas, or owning all of it.

The minimum term is three months. If you start within two months of Product Planning, a Launch Readiness Review, or a Dev Team & Vendor Health Check, half its fee counts toward ongoing support.
